On 13 March 2013 the CITES plenary adopted a proposal forwarded by the USA to issue “Instrument Passports” for regular multi-use border crossings. The “Passport” is intended to increase efficiency in issuing permits for CITES appendix listed materials however, for technical reasons, the Australian CITES Management Authority will not adopt the passport.
Anyone wishing to travel with instruments or bows that have CITES Appendix I listed materials, or to travel to countries where restrictions apply to Appendix II or III listed items must apply to the Australian CITES Management Authority for an appropriate permit http://www.environment.gov.au/biodiversity/wildlife-trade/
